Let's Get Started!

There are two ways to begin your flying adventure. If you've never flown before, consider taking an Introductory Flight: You'll spend a few minutes on the ground learning about the airplane, and then you'll fly in the left seat with a Certified Flight Instructor. As in a regular lesson, you will get to fly the airplane with the help of your instructor.

But if you know you're ready to begin flight training, simply call to schedule your first lesson. You'll get the most out of it if you purchase the Private Pilot Kit and read the first ground school chapter before your flight.

Whichever route you decide upon, we're here to help you. Call us or email us if you have questions. We look forward to seeing you!
Privileges: The Private Certificate permits holders to check out in a wide variety of aircraft and to carry passengers virtually anywhere. New Private pilots are restricted from flying in non-visual conditions (clouds and other "bad" weather).
Requirements: Applicants need to meet standards in three separate areas to qualify for FAA pilot certificates: Flight experience, Flight skill, and Theoretical understanding.

Flight Experience: An applicant for the Private Pilot certificate must have 40 hours flight time, to include a minimum of 20 hours dual instruction and 10 hours solo. It is normal for most students to require significantly more time: Private Pilot training nationally averages over 70 hours.

Flight Skill: The skills required for the Private Certificate can be grouped into three broad areas:

  • Solo flight
  • Cross-country navigation and night flight
  • Pilot-in-Command experience

Knowledge Tests: To thoroughly teach the necessary theory and to prepare students for FAA knowledge exams, We offer two alternatives: a classroom ground school taught by senior flight instructors and an interactive digital video instruction program.
